Stars in Close Proximity

Sometimes stars show up in very close proximity on images. Although they might look like FMOs in jpeg images, it is clear that they are not FMOs in blinking images because the 'trail' is stationary.

Example image of two stars

NON-REPORTABLE: Multiple close stars

CHARACTERISTICS:
Poor sky conditions and less than ideal focus make these two stars/galaxies look like a possible smudged line. Some nights poor sky conditions, or less than ideal focus, can cause stars to merge into a line.

NON-REPORTABLE: Two close stars

CHARACTERISTICS:
This is a typical image of stars in close proximity. While it is worth clicking on the jpeg (still) images to obtain a blinking image, we ask reviewers not to resubmit it to the SPACEWATCH® observer.
